DAVID WILKINSON SAMPSON  (Athlete, Class of 2017)


Dave Sampson follows in his brother, Gregís, and Uncle Steveís footsteps-adding his name to the list of golfing Sampsons who are members of the hall of fame. Like many athletes, Dave participated in youth sports. He was a member of various town and select travel teams in baseball, basketball, ice hockey and lacrosse.





 In 1999 he won the DARE Youth Golf Tourney.. During Daveís high school career He amassed a multitude of awards including 2nd All State as a freshman (2003) and 1st All State as a junior (2005) and 1st All State as a senior (2006). In 2004 he lost out on all state honors when it was decided by a tiebreaker. He was also named 1st All Central all 4 years of high school. In 2004 he won the New England Interscholastic Golf Championship. He qualified for the National Tournament sponsored by Independent Insurance Agents 3 times.











At RI Country Club, Dave won the Fred Bruno Individual Champion Award in the Faxon Interclub Championship. In 2006 Dave was the Rhode Island Individual Champion, and the Club Champion at Crestwood Country Club. In 2007 Dave finished 3rd in the prestigious Burke Memorial Tournament. At Seaton Hall University, Dave was a 4 year member of menís golf team. He was a 3 year Academic All American and a 4 year member of the All Big East Academic team.














He competed in the Northeast Amateur in 2008. He also won the RIGA Pub Links Championship in 2008 and 2009. In 2007 he finished 2nd in the RIGA Stroke Play Championship. In 2009 he placed 4th in the RIGA Player of the Year Race.
