CARA BAPTISTA GOLSON  (Athlete, Class of 2017)

Cara Baptista was one of Warren's top gymnasts. She did not attend Mt. Hope High School, but chose instead to attend the small Catholic school situated on Market Street near the Swansea line. Our Lady of Fatima no longer exists, but what Cara accomplished there will live on in the annals of the Warren Athletic Hall of Fame.

She set the bar high when she captured the New England AAU Junior Olympic championship in the All-Around category as a fourteen-year-old.
As a Fatima freshman, she finished second in the State High School Individual Championship. She went on that year to compete in the New England tourney where she finished fifth in the floor exercises, twelfth in the vault, and thirty-fifth all-around. During her high school career she qualified for the State High School Individual Championships all four years and was named All State in her sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. Cara was also either a Level 9 or Level 10 performer for most of her high school career.

As a senior she again competed in the New England High School Championship and finished fifth in the balance beam, ninth in the floor exercises, and eleventh all-around.
